Johanne McInnis

Canadian Jazz Celtic Harpist

Harp & Yoga Festival

"Ubuntu" is the first in a series of musical Covid lockdown inspirations. The Chill-Bits duo of Hal Halli & Johanne McInnis are light-hearted hosts who share their lo-fi, hip-hop, tribal rhythm & world dance message. It's one of peace and cooperation. The pair briefly introduce themselves and then proceed to share a song that makes us want to move, to laugh, to think, to get out of that Covid funk and see the joy of connection, cooperation and hope for the future.

In her evocative melodies, Johanne, the Canadian Jazz-Celtic Harpist, captures the essence of nature's embrace and the yearning of the heart "Calling You Home." Influenced by the vibrant artistic culture of Québec and Montréal, her music resonates with the soul's journey, drawing inspiration from her experiences as a busker in Old Quebec. Her Celtic influences come from the time she spent in Nova Scotia teaching music and languages for almost two decades. Johanne's innovative blend of Pop, Celtic, Jazz, Indian, and Aboriginal influences creates a tapestry of sound that transcends boundaries, offering listeners a transformative experience. With her new show, she aims to rekindle pure emotions and uplift spirits above life's challenges. Through her music, Johanne offers a healing balm for the mind and soul, reminding us that with each breath, we have the opportunity to begin anew. Tour

Johanne

English version:

Hello dear friends, I wish you a peaceful year 2024.

I hope that our path will cross either in Old Québec or at a different location where I will be performing the new show entitled: "Calling You Home!" It is on the beaches of Québec and Nova Scotia that we will be able to meet again soon. Also, check our the new dates for the Harp & Yoga 2024 Fest that is coming back in full force, with great yoga sessions on the beach of Kingsport, Nova Scotia, including very special guest speakers.

In 2021-2023, I spent a lot of time in the recording studio concocting a few inspirational songs under the Spotify plateforme label: Chill Bits. During that period of time, I received a scholarship from the Nova Scotia Teachers' Union (NSTU). With this grant, I was able to write songs with Hal Halli. The purpose of creating those songs was to help our students & families practice resilience in a world in transition while keeping hope at the forefront of our life.

Below, you will find the links to these musical gifts. Happy listening!

With love! Johanne

Dear Friends,

So much has happened in the past 15 months...

I hope you are all well!

For musicians, it has been a time to create new music and explore new opportunities. So beside working towards a Master Degree in Harp studies and my Impressionistic harp project with orchestral arrangements, Hal & I have been creating a series. We have formed "Chill-Bits Inspirations & Meditations".

The theme of our newest work is entitled "Covid Lockdown Inspirations".

In this series, you can expect to hear our voices, harp, Celtic flute, piano, guitar and orchestral arrangements & tribal rhythms as we explore cooperation, mindfulness, gratitude & happiness in these challenging times.

So today, I am very excited to share with you our latest video.

As Chill-Bits, we want to bring people together. We hope you will dance, smile and feel hope.

A special thank you to Canadian NSTU Mental Health & Wellness Grant for making these first few songs available to you on your own device!

Enjoy!

Peace & love,
Johanne J. McInnis
